Eligibility Check

Know Before You Apply

Deck and Engine courses require Class XII with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) — minimum 60% aggregate. ETO accepts PCM or Physics + Maths combinations. Age: 17–25 years at time of joining.

Vision standard: 6/6 unaided (Deck). Colour blindness disqualifies Deck cadets; ETO and Engine have relaxed norms. We run a free pre-screening before you fill a single form.

IMU-CET Preparation

Crack the National Entrance

Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET) is held twice a year. The exam covers Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and General Aptitude — 200 questions, 3 hours.

Helm's 90-day IMU-CET boot camp has produced 312 top-100 rankers since 2018. Mock tests, chapter-wise analytics, and a doubt-clearing hotline are included in all courses.

Fit for Sea Service

DGS-approved medical examination covers vision, colour perception, hearing, blood pressure, and general fitness. The medical is conducted at DGS-empanelled hospitals — Helm schedules it for you.

We partner with clinics in Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, and Kolkata. Medical clearance typically takes 3–5 working days. Helm's pre-medical advisory reduces failure rates by 40%.

Funding Your Sea Career

Sponsored cadets have their training fees and pre-sea training costs covered by a shipping company in exchange for a bond period of 18–36 months. Self-sponsored cadets pay fees independently and have full employer choice.

Helm holds placement agreements with 28 shipping companies including Maersk, Anglo-Eastern, and Synergy Group. Education loans up to ₹15 lakh available through partner banks with no collateral for top rankers.

The Gangway Awaits

Reporting date is typically 3–4 weeks after admission confirmation. Cadets arrive at Helm's residential campus in Navi Mumbai with their document file, uniform set (provided), and a readiness to work hard.

Day one begins with a campus orientation, simulator familiarisation, and the formal oath-taking ceremony. By week two, you're in the engine-room simulator logging watch hours.

"The bridge simulator at Helm had me doing ARPA collision avoidance exercises for 200 hours before I ever stood watch on a real vessel. My Chief Officer said I was the most prepared cadet he had seen in eight years."
